In this role, the associate will prepare individual and, where applicable, small business tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current tax laws and regulations. Daily responsibilities include gathering and reviewing client financial information, identifying potential deductions and credits, and explaining tax concepts and outcomes in clear, understandable language. The Tax Associate will support clients throughout the filing process, maintain detailed and confidential records, and use H&R Block’s tax software and tools to deliver efficient, high-quality service. The role also involves staying current on tax law changes, collaborating with team members, and contributing to a welcoming, client-focused environment. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in Tax Preparation and Tax Compliance to accurately prepare returns and meet regulatory requirements. Knowledge of Tax Law and Tax concepts to interpret rules, apply guidance, and advise clients within legal parameters. Foundational Finance skills to analyze income, deductions, credits, and other financial data relevant to client tax situations. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities in reviewing documents and resolving tax issues. Clear written and verbal communication skills to explain tax outcomes, options, and next steps to clients in accessible terms. Ability to work on-site in Charlotte, NC, collaborating with team members and delivering client-centered service during peak seasons. Relevant education such as a degree or coursework in accounting, finance, business, or a related field; professional tax certifications (e.g., Enrolled Agent) are a plus.
