We are excited to announce an opening for the Chair of Psychiatry!

The Chair will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our mental health services align with our organization's mission, strategic goals, and overall business framework. This position involves overseeing the mental health team and guaranteeing that services are provided in compliance with our policies, New York State regulations, funder guidelines, and recognized best practices in mental health care.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Chair include:

• Leading the recruitment of clinicians and supervising all aspects of clinical care.
• Driving quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensuring readiness for regulatory inspections and compliance with standards set by various certifying bodies.
• Collaborating with hospital and health system leadership to enhance care for all behavioral health patients.

Duties

• Serve as the head of the Psychiatry Department.
• Design, implement, and evaluate clinical programs and services to enhance patient care outcomes.
• Facilitate coordination of care and services across departments to improve continuity of care.
• Oversee all clinical activities within the Psychiatry Department.
• Assess the professional competence of medical staff and take necessary actions when needed.
• Maintain clear communication with departmental leadership, faculty, and staff regarding roles, responsibilities, and expectations, including conducting annual performance evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (JC, CMS, OMH, DOH) at all times.
• Develop and implement Performance Improvement initiatives within the department.
• Manage the financial health of clinical services, including budget oversight, expenses, and revenue management.
• Address and resolve department-specific patient complaints, emergencies, and critical incidents effectively.
• Provide an optimal training experience for trainees within the department.

Accreditation

The Chair will be responsible for upholding accreditation, regulatory, and licensing standards to ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care, including compliance with OMH, OASAS, The Joint Commission, and the Department of Health.

Position Qualifications

• MD Degree with Board Certification in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry or Psychiatry.
• Medical Degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid New York Medical License.

Compensation

The salary for this position ranges from $300,000 to $400,000, excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits.

Our organization provides a salary range to comply with New York City’s Salary Transparency law. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as experience, specialties, historical productivity, and community needs. Therefore, the final salary may be closer to either end of the range or, in some cases, may fall outside the listed range. The stated salary range applies to full-time employment and does not include bonuses or benefits.
