Role Summary

The Lead Psychiatrist will provide advanced psychiatric care within an inpatient forensic behavioral health setting while serving as a clinical leader for a multidisciplinary treatment team. Working in collaboration with the Medical Director, this physician will provide psychiatric assessment and treatment, guide patient recovery planning, support clinical staff, and contribute to quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and guide a multidisciplinary team in the assessment, treatment, and recovery planning of patients with complex psychiatric needs.
• Conduct psychiatric examinations and assessments, establish diagnoses, and provide psychiatric treatment and medication management.
• Lead patient recovery teams and evaluate the progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services.
• Provide clinical leadership and guidance to psychiatric and other professional staff and, as assigned, review or supervise the work of other psychiatrists.
• Complete required physician court documentation and provide associated testimony as needed.
• Participate in medical staff committees, peer review, quality improvement initiatives, and quarterly quality-focused chart reviews.
• Review clinical trends and outcomes and make recommendations to support improvements in psychiatric services and patient care.
• Collaborate with the Medical Director, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, medical providers, and other clinical professionals to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Required Qualifications

• MD or DO with successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency.
• Current unrestricted Texas medical license.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
• Current DEA registration.
• National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Minimum of four years of experience working as a Psychiatrist.
• Minimum of four years of experience working with individuals with psychiatric disorders.
• Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership and work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment environment.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous inpatient psychiatric experience.
• Experience within a forensic psychiatric or similarly complex behavioral health environment.
• Previous clinical leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience.
• Experience with quality improvement, peer review, and clinical performance initiatives.
• Familiarity with court-related psychiatric documentation and testimony.
