Job Summary and Qualifications\n \n \n The WOC nurse serves as a clinical resource and consultant for the acute and rehabilitative care of patients with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and integumentary systems such as acute and chronic wounds (i.e. complex draining wounds, fistulae, pressure ulcers, and vascular ulcers), ostomies, percutaneous tubes and continence disorders. Professional responsibilities are carried out through direct patient care, clinical coordination, education, research and administration. \n What you will do in this role: \n \n \n Supports the philosophy of Kingwood Medical Center by facilitating cooperation of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. \n Adheres to dress code, arrives to work on time, and initiates work in a timely manner. \n Adheres to policy regarding absences and tardiness. \n Consistently provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests. \n Displays initiative to see processes through to completion and offers assistance without being asked. \n Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance from appropriate personnel as needed. \n Prioritizes activities of self, based on demands for service. \n Remains alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated. \n Demonstrates an understanding of patient rights, including those pertaining to confidentiality, informed decision-making, and privacy. \n Is aware of resources available for ethical concerns and makes appropriate referrals. \n Practices cost-efficiency. \n Performs technical skills proficiently in accordance with established standards, as evidenced by annual validation processes. \n Demonstrates appropriate skills for assigned area/task. \n Anticipates needed supplies/equipment prior to beginning assigned task. \n Demonstrates ability to operate departmental equipment. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n What qualifications you will need:\n \n Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date \n (RN) Registered Nurse \n Bachelors Degree, or Associate Degree \n Successful completion of a WOCN approved educational program \n Certification by the WOCNCB; 3 specialties CWOCN or 2 specialties CWON \n \n Benefits \n HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
