POSITION SUMMARY

The Warehouse Maintenance Technician will work with the warehouse team to maintain the warehouse, surrounding grounds and equipment (including vehicles, trucks and trailers) and ensure full and productive use of all facilities. A primary focus of this position is to support the work of the mission of the organization by keeping the warehouse in top-notch shape to ensure we operate at optimal levels while keeping a safe and sanitary environment for employees.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

· Maintain warehouse buildings, grounds and equipment to ensure full and productive use of the space.

· Perform all maintenance and repair work. Helping the Director to schedule and monitor repairs that require outside vendor assistance.

· Ensure all equipment and machinery is operating safely and effectively at all times.

· Manage pest control to ensure minimal rodent issues arise.

· Work with the Director to conduct detailed inspections of the warehouse and grounds as needed, establishing and upholding maintenance repair schedules for the facility and equipment.

· Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency repair needs.

· Arrange for the services of outside contractors as needed.

· Ensure that all activities conform to safety standards/OSHA regulations.

· Provide forklift and pallet jack training for staff on an as-needed basis.

· Ensure that all activities conform to government regulations protecting the health, safety and rights of employees and the public (including but not limited to asbestos, hazardous chemicals, access to buildings by handicapped and overall safety).

· Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.

· Oversee and maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.

· Maintain a professional demeanor with staff and vendors.

· Maintain necessary supplies, tools, and equipment for all repair projects.

· Assist with all other projects and tasks as needed.

 

ESSENTIALS THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL

· Ability to work independently or with a team to accomplish project goals.

· Strong skills and knowledge of general maintenance, carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, HVAC.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Task-oriented with a mindset to complete projects quickly yet accurately.

· Ability to be proactive in locating small problems and solving them before they become large issues.

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

· High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

· Previous experience in similar maintenance or facilities role preferred.

· Experience in the following trades are ideal: general maintenance, carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, HVAC, etc.

· Experience with operation of forklift and both manual an electrical pallet jacks.

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite for using emails for communications with staff and vendors.

· Valid Florida driver’s license and ability to qualify under UP’s commercial insurance while driving a company vehicle.

· OSHA and Forklift certified or ability to become certified within 30 days.
