Veterinary Technician - Anesthesia

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an Anesthesia Veterinary Technician! Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 / hour. This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system. Responsibilities Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. Utilize the ability to place a peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein. Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. Understand normal vital parameters and alert doctor when abnormal. Able to set up intravenous fluids. Administer subcutaneous fluids. Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors. Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically. Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload. Set up constant rate infusions (CRI). Calculate all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc). Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia. Set up for MRI and CT procedures. Discharge and intake surgery patients to and from the hospital, including basic client education. Perform call backs and refill medications. Client education, gathering histories and communicating that to the clinician. Restrain patients during consults and diagnostics.
