Manager, Transfer Access CenterThe Manager, Transfer Access Center provides operational leadership for centralized patient placement and transfer activities across Health First’s four acute-care hospitals. The Manager, Transfer Access Center oversees the Transfer Access Center, Centralized Patient Logistics, and Bed Control to support timely access to care, appropriate patient placement, efficient use of system capacity, and safe, well-coordinated patient transitions. The Manager, Transfer Access Center leads a twenty-four-seven (24/7) team and collaborates with physicians, Nursing Administrative Supervisor(s) (NAS), and hospital leaders to advance clinical excellence, patient and provider experience, workforce engagement, responsible growth, and financial stewardship.Primary AccountabilitiesManages and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Transfer Access Center, including Centralized Patient Logistics and Bed Control, to support timely, safe, and appropriate patient placement and movement across Health First’s four acute-care hospitals.Oversees interfacility transfers, direct admissions, and centralized bed-placement processes, coordinating with physicians, NAS, hospital leaders, and clinical teams to facilitate placement based on clinical requirements, service capability, capacity, and established protocols.Monitors real-time system capacity, transfer demand, and patient-placement activity; identifies barriers, prioritizes competing operational needs, and facilitates timely resolution or escalation through established pathways.Ensures continuous operational coverage and effective deployment of Transfer Access Registered Nurse (RN) Case Managers and Centralized Bed Placement Specialists to support responsive, reliable 24/7 operations.Serves as a system-wide operational resource for transfer, placement, and patient-movement processes, facilitating communication and resolution of time-sensitive barriers among physicians, clinical teams, hospital leaders, and administrative departments.Establishes, standardizes, and evaluates transfer and placement workflows and performance measures to improve timely access, patient flow, capacity utilization, and operational consistency across the system.Analyzes transfer activity, placement outcomes, capacity trends, and departmental performance to identify improvement opportunities and support operational decision-making.Partners with information technology (IT), clinical informatics, and operational stakeholders to optimize transfer and patient-placement technology and successfully implement system and workflow changes.Maintains departmental readiness for technology downtime, emergency events, and other operational disruptions to support continuity of transfer and placement functions.Verifies departmental compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, quality, safety, licensure, and organizational requirements.Builds effective working relationships with physicians, NAS, hospital leaders, and interdisciplinary partners to promote consistent practices and shared operational objectives across Health First’s Hospital Division.Leadership AccountabilitiesDefine and communicate a clear, compelling vision for the team that effectively ties into the mission and vision of Health First, and inspirationally lead the team to achieve that vision.Provide leadership, motivation, coaching, feedback and support to foster and strengthen growth and development of an effective, high performing team.Lead change through effective communication, explaining the connection and value to the organization, creating stronger buy-in and urgency, while understanding impact to the team to obtain commitment.Demonstrate openness to hearing diverse ideas and thoughts; create a sense of inclusivity; and encourage collaboration across teams to help break down silos to meet the teams and organizations goals.Recruit, select, grow, and retain highly engaged, high performing diverse and inclusive associates.Contribute to and support the strategic direction, and demonstrate financial acumen, for areas of responsibility and organization.Work ExperienceMinimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN).Work Experience:Five (5) years progressive acute-care nursing experience.One (1) year demonstrated leadership experience, including responsibility for staff coordination, performance improvement, and operational oversight.Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Florida.Certification: NoneSkills/Knowledge/Abilities:Organizational skills to include time management and problem-solving.Highly developed communication skillsMaintains professional competencies by attending continuing education programs and participating in professional organizations.Ability to interpret real-time operational and capacity data to inform placement and staffing decisions.Ability to recognize barriers, prioritize competing needs, and escalate concerns through appropriate leadership channels.Preferred QualificationsWork Experience:Three (3) or more years experience in either transfer-center, bed-placement, or patient-flow/capacity management operations, or broader healthcare operations leadership.Prior formal supervisory or management experience within a multi-hospital or integrated delivery network.Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:Experience with Epic or comparable EHR and transfer-center/bed-management platforms.Familiarity with centralized capacity or command-center dashboards and reporting tools.Process-improvement training (e.g., Lean or Six Sigma) applied to patient flow or throughput operations.Physical RequirementsMajority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.Long periods of computer time or at workstation.Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.Communicating with others to exchange information.Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.Workspace may vary from open to confined.May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter;
