Summary Job Description: Nurse Assistant, Surgical‑Telemetry/Ortho, 3GH Unit Unit Overview 3G/H is a 37‑bed telemetry/medical surgical unit specializing in orthopedic, neuro, and spine patients. The unit also functions as a secondary stroke unit and handles general cardiac/telemetry patients. Patients are transferred in from PACU, ED, interventional areas, and direct admissions from MD offices. Shift Full‑time, days. Key Responsibilities Assist with patient needs and personal hygiene, including bathing, dental care, grooming, dressing, and toileting, while maintaining dignity and privacy. Provide nutritional and mobility support: help patients eat and drink, serve meals, and assist with positioning during meals and transfers. Take and document vital signs, measure intake and output, and assist in preparing patient histories and chart packs as delegated by nursing staff. Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for medical procedures and offer manual assistance as needed, ensuring adherence to hospital policies. Perform assigned patient care tasks such as hygienic care, feeding, dressing changes, and other duties as delegated by a RN or other licensed care team member. Support unit housekeeping: complete housekeeping duties, replenish supplies, and run errands to sustain unit operations. Respond promptly to emergency codes and participate in quality improvement activities focused on patient safety and satisfaction metrics. Attend required safety training programs, understand safety protocols, and collect and document specimens for laboratory analysis. Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures High School Diploma or equivalent. Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or enrollment in a nursing program with successful completion of the first year and validated clinical rotation. Basic Life Support certification, obtained within 30 days of hire.
