About the Role

The recycling sorter works in a fast-paced warehouse setting, separating recyclable materials on a conveyor line to ensure proper sorting and quality standards. This role helps operation by removing non-conforming items and performing general housekeeping and equipment cleanup throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Stand at a station along a conveyor belt to inspect and sort recycling materials
• Identify and remove non-conforming or prohibited materials from the sorting line.
• Perform general housekeeping and clean processing equipment at the end of each shift.
• Maintain a safe and organized work area throughout the shift.
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse and recycling environment while meeting productivity and quality expectations.
• Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or operational problems to the appropriate supervisor.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications

• Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, recycling, or industrial environment preferred.
• Familiarity with the use of basic personal protective equipment like a hard hat, reflective vest, steel toe boots, ear and eye protection, utility gloves, and arm preferred.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced warehouse and recycling environment.
• Comfortable working at elevated heights.
• Ability to work around moving conveyor systems and rotating equipment without experiencing motion sickness.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to quickly identify and remove non-conforming materials.
• Reliable attendance and the ability to work assigned shifts, including overtime as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Regularly use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms
• Frequently required to sit, walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, speak and hear.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
• Must be able to stand for long period of time
• Vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud
