Regional Transportation Manager

Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Transportation Groups, the Regional Transportation Manager is responsible for managing the day‑to‑day operation of transportation services for Oldcastle APG facilities and customers in the West region (AZ, CA, CO, UT, OR, WA). The position involves a transportation network that includes both private fleet and hired haul operations and interacts with national home‑improvement retailers, building product dealers, and contractor job sites. The manager will implement strategies to improve customer service, maintain world‑class safety levels, ensure compliance with regulations, drive continuous improvement, and reduce costs while collaborating across multiple business units. Job Location This is an onsite position located at our Phoenix, AZ Regional Office when not traveling in the region. Job Responsibilities Strategic logistical planning for all locations Ensure that Fleet Managers and Drivers are trained and remain in compliance with DOT regulations Manage a team of logistics coordinators, a fleet manager, and 40‑50 class A CDL drivers across the region Make hiring decisions, manage performance, provide coaching and issue discipline for the transportation team Ensure service performance (On Time Delivery) Maintain compliance with all DOT and company policies and procedures Maintain driver qualification files and audit driver logs to ensure compliance with hours‑of‑service regulations Oversee scheduling to ensure company driver routes comply with DOT hours Serve as company contact for insurance claims involving company drivers or lease vehicles Make lease/buy decisions on equipment and provide recommendations including specifications Oversee the maintenance program for company vehicles and recommend future Capex purchases Review current vendors and seek new vendors to reduce cost and increase fleet efficiency Work with site locations to refine and improve processes to increase transportation productivity Recruit and negotiate rates with core carriers as needed Ensure carriers meet daily customer service requirements and operate within budget and contractual agreements Implement related company policies and programs, staying current on government rules and regulations, and report to management when necessary Provide reporting on key KPI metrics to management Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed Job Requirements Minimum four‑year degree in business or related field, or equivalent in experience, training or education Minimum 5+ years of experience in a related transportation field, including experience using transportation management software systems Ability to travel up to 50 % Strong organizational skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite Strong Excel and Tableau skills Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to communicate and work with customers and drivers in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner What CRH Offers You Highly competitive base pay Comprehensive medical, dental, and disability benefits programs Group retirement savings program Health and wellness programs An inclusive culture that values opportunity for growth, development, and internal promotion EOE Oldcastle APG, a CRH Company, is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
