Today, we are a firm of approximately 100 lawyers across Texas and on both coasts. The Firm is currently seeking an experienced Defense Litigation Secretary in our Houston office. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of litigation procedures, excellent administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment. Experience in one or more of the following practice areas is highly desirable: Personal injury defense General liability defense Commercial litigation Responsibilities Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to defense litigation attorneys. Assist with the preparation, formatting, proofreading, and filing of legal documents, pleadings, motions, discovery responses, correspondence, and court filings. Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files, ensuring documents are accurately filed and readily accessible. Assist attorneys with case management, including tracking deadlines, hearings, depositions, discovery, and other important dates. Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, mediations, meetings, and attorney appointments. Prepare and organize deposition, trial, and hearing materials. Assist with preparing discovery documents and maintaining discovery records. E-file documents with state and federal courts, as applicable. Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, insurance carriers, experts, and other parties. Assist with calendaring and monitoring statutes of limitations, response deadlines, and other litigation deadlines. Prepare correspondence, notices, subpoenas, and other legal documents as directed by attorneys. Perform legal research and administrative tasks as requested. Enter and maintain accurate case information in case management and document management systems. Assist with billing, time entry, expense reports, and other administrative functions. Provide general office support and maintain confidentiality of sensitive client and case information. Qualifications 2-3 years of experience as a Legal Secretary, Litigation Secretary, or similar legal support role. Experience supporting defense-side litigation attorneys strongly preferred. Familiarity with civil litigation procedures, discovery, pleadings, court filings, and legal terminology. Strong organizational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Outlook. Experience with legal case management and electronic filing systems preferred. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a legal team. Professional demeanor and ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Pay/Salary: Commensurate with experience. Pay includes a year-end performance-based bonus.
