(UHS), one of the nation's leading healthcare providers, we are committed to excellence in patient care and organizational growth.GWUH offers comprehensive benefits such as: challenging and rewarding work environment, competitive compensation, career development opportunities across UHS and our 300+ locations, excellent medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug plan, generous paid time off, 401(K) with company match and discounted stock plan, tuition reimbursement, SoFi student loan refinancing program, employee assistance program, and career development opportunities within UHS and its subsidiaries.What You Will Do:Provides shift to shift oversight for clinical practice, staffing, patient flow, safety, service, and utilization of resources for daily operations.Maintains the environment of care.Provides care to patients in a competent, capable, caring and efficient manner.Care provided is appropriate to the age of the patients served.Role models organizational values.Provides real-time feedback to staff to improve performance.Leads/participates in department process improvement to improve project outcomes.Leadership responsibilities include evaluating daily clinical practice against defined standards and providing constructive feedback and preventative counseling to staff.Acts as a resource for employees on matters of clinical practice and issue resolution.Clearly communicates organizational and department messages to staff.Participates in the development of long- and short-range goals for the department and services that are consistent with goals and objectives of the hospital.Assists Nurse Manager in monitoring, confirming, educating staff of safety procedures and regulatory compliance.Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and takes appropriate corrective action and escalates concerns when needed.Participates in hiring process and helps coordinate peer interviews.Patient experience includes observing that patient engagement and safety strategies are consistently practiced.Provides staff and manager feedback on the quality and consistency of these practices.Oversee patient callbacks.Participates in daily leader rounding to assess satisfaction with the patient experience.Communicates department patient experience results and action plans to staff.People responsibilities include responding to employee concerns as they are identified and escalating concerns to the Nurse Manager as needed.In collaboration with Nurse Manager develops action plans that result in improvement in employee engagement data with sustained improvement over time.Provides employees with clarity about expectations and clear feedback about performance; deals with performance problems in an appropriate and timely way and escalates concerns to the Nurse Manager as needed.Participate in unit-based professional governance.Quality, safety, compliance responsibilities include contributing to the development of department-based quality/process improvement plans and supporting the implementation of improvement strategies and evidence-based practice changes and monitor the effectiveness of improvement efforts.Participate in lead daily management and other improvement projects.Daily evaluation of clinical care to ensure safety, reduce complications, and improve patient outcomes.Finance responsibilities include ensuring daily staffing is aligned with the budgeted staffing plan and clinical needs of patients.Monitors daily productivity.Assists with staffing and patient flow beds each shift, proactively forecasts staffing needs.Utilizes a proactive approach to patient transfers and discharges; works with Case Management and clinical partners to identify barriers to and ensure a timely and efficient transfer/hospital discharge.Monitors appropriate use of supplies and equipment.Provider partnership includes demonstrating actions that reflect a pro-active approach to identify and respond to physician issue.Provides feedback to residents and attending providers about clinical practice.Works with providers to facilitate effective plans of care.Facilitates partnership to improve practice outcomes via interdisciplinary rounds.Responds to provider feedback and resolves concerns by end of shift or escalates issues as needed.Qualifications:We seek nurses who passionately support an individualized birth experience. BSN required. 1 year charge nurse experience preferred. Professional experience that demonstrates ability to understand the clinical practice environment. 2 years clinical nursing experience preferred. Certification in specialty preferred. Successful completion of unit specific certifications (PALS, ACLS, TNCC, NRP, chemotherapy certification, etc.) Member of professional practice organization pertinent to area of practice preferred.
