About the Position

ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 18 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12.25 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Texas RN or multi-state RN license Certifications: ACLS & BLS Must-Have: - Certifications must be attached to the submission. Description: Critical care registered nurses are skilled at providing care in settings where patients have experienced severe medical issues. Specific duties and responsibilities of critical care nurses include assessing a patient's condition and implementing patient care plans. They treat wounds and provide advanced life support, assisting physicians in procedures as needed. Critical care nurses observe and record patient vital signs. They ensure that medical equipment functions properly and may adjust equipment as necessary. The role includes administering intravenous fluids and medications and performing suctioning. Collaboration with fellow members of the critical care team is essential. Critical care nurses respond to life-saving situations, utilizing nursing standards and protocols for treatment. They act as patient advocates and provide education and support to patient families. Additionally, some critical care nurses care for pre- and post-operative patients. In some cases, they may serve as case managers and policy makers, while others perform administrative duties.
