Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Position involves working in the operating room as a certified surgical technologist. The CST will work three 12-hour day shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Holiday rotation and weekend shifts are required, with up to one weekend shift per four-week schedule period. The position includes on-call requirements, with up to four call shifts per four-week schedule period. The CST may be required to float within the scope of practice to meet facility needs. Common cases include Orthopedic (total joints, spine, trauma), Neuro (crani, spine), ENT (flaps), Robotics, Transplants, Trauma, and Burns. First-time travelers are accepted for this position. A radiation badge is required, and it must be provided by the agency. Candidates should be open to accommodating block scheduling, subject to managerial approval based on unit needs. The Main Operating Room is a level-one, academic trauma center with 21 operating room suites covering various surgical specialties. The environment is dynamic, with a nursing team comprising 75% Registered Nurses and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists. All staff members may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season, which runs from June through November.
