Creative Director, Design

At NRG Energy, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Director of Design to lead a high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary design team. The role focuses on guiding, mentoring, and driving strategic design across UX/UI, merchandise and brand marketing to deliver business‑driving work. Role Overview The Director of Design will own the evolution and stewardship of NRG’s brand visual identity, ensuring consistency, excellence, and alignment with strategic vision while managing multiple concurrent projects and supporting the growth of the team. Responsibilities Lead, mentor and develop a team of managers and designers across UX/UI, merchandise, and brand marketing. Own and evolve the brand visual identity, maintaining consistency and elevating the brand experience. Oversee end‑to‑end design and production of premium branded merchandise. Drive high‑impact marketing campaigns from concept to tactical rollout across digital and offline channels. Present and defend creative decisions with senior stakeholders, translating design rationale into strategic value. Build systems and processes to scale design quality and prevent bottlenecks. Champion career growth and team well‑being while managing project timelines and organizational priorities. Qualifications Must have an exceptional portfolio demonstrating design and design leadership. B.F.A. or B.A. in Graphic Design (or related field). 8+ years in a senior‑level design capacity. Deep familiarity with digital design across web, mobile, email, paid media, social, and in‑app experiences. Experience leading the creative development of end‑to‑end marketing campaigns across diverse channels and audiences. UX/UI fluency with a solid understanding of user experience and interface design principles. Experience managing and motivating high‑performing creative teams. Strong presentation skills to recommend solutions to senior executives. Excellent project management and organizational skills. Strong typography skills.
