Senior Physiotherapist (Burns and Plastics) Salary: HSO Level P2 $122,597 - $130,265 per annum pro rata Location: Perth Children's Hospital, Nedlands Unit/Division: Perth Children's Hospital > Physiotherapy Work Type: Fixed Term - Part Time, Permanent - Part Time Work days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday About the Role The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is seeking an experienced Senior Physiotherapist to join our specialist Burns & Plastic team at Perth Children’s Hospital. This role offers the opportunity to deliver advanced clinical care while providing coordination and leadership to support children with complex injuries and conditions. You will work across the full continuum of care – from acute burns management in intensive care and ward settings through to long‑term outpatient rehabilitation – ensuring continuity and high‑quality, patient‑centred outcomes across the recovery journey. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert assessment and treatment for acute burns (inpatient and outpatient) and upper‑limb/hand injuries, including tendon repairs. You will contribute to coordinated care planning, participate in ward rounds and case conferences, and provide specialist input into surgical and rehabilitation decision‑making. You will design and deliver tailored rehabilitation programs, including exercise prescription, thermoplastic splinting and graded functional recovery, with a focus on preserving movement, preventing complications such as scarring and contractures, and restoring function – particularly in the hands and upper limbs, where fine motor skills are critical. Key Responsibilities Planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating physiotherapy services using advanced clinical practice skills in Burns and Plastics. Supporting outpatient clinics and managing inpatient caseloads. Supervising, coordinating and mentoring junior physiotherapy staff, contributing to high standards of clinical care. Working closely with families to support ongoing therapy, including education on home programmes, splinting and recovery. Contributing to quality improvement, service development and research initiatives to strengthen evidence‑based practice. Qualifications A tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy and eligibility for registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia is required. Paediatric experience is highly regarded, but not essential. Postgraduate qualifications (or progress toward) and research experience are highly regarded. Selection Criteria Essential selection criteria include relevant clinical experience in Burns and Plastics, demonstrable clinical leadership, supervision and multidisciplinary collaboration. Desirable criteria include advanced academic achievement and research experience.
