Kafka Engineer – 100% Remote
We are in search of a Kafka developer who has a combination of technical skills, communication skills and business knowledge to design and implement Kafka on Kubernetes. You will work with a team to design, develop and administer security protocols and maintenance. The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills and also will be able to take oral and written business requirements and develop efficient code to meet set deliverables.
What you will do:
- Handle all Kafka environment builds, including design, capacity planning, cluster setup, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring.
- Work with Confluent/Kafka Security (SSL SASL Kerberos ACL)
- Design and Manage large scale multi-nodes Kafka cluster environments in the cloud
- Knowledge and experience in developing software using Agile and DevSecOps practices.
- Handle all Kafka environment builds, including design, capacity planning, cluster setup, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring.
- Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for the Kafka Cluster.
- Creation of key performance metrics, measuring the utilization, performance and overall health of the cluster.
- Capacity planning and implementation of new/upgraded hardware and software releases as well as for storage infrastructure.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
- Ability to closely calibrate with product managers and lead engineers.
- Provide guidance in the creation and modification of standards and procedures
- Create topics, setup redundancy cluster, deploy monitoring tools, alerts
Requirements:
- 3+ years experience with Kafka
- Experience with Kafka Security and Access & Authorization protocols
- Strong experience doing Kafka engineering in a cloud environment (AWS preferred)
Nice to Have's:
- Experience with Confluent Kafka
- Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes
- AWS experience
- Experience in Agile environment
- Experience in Jenkins, and GitLab
