Electrician Journeyman

Job Summary Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs facility electrical distribution systems, electronics, automation systems, lighting systems, apparatus, and devices. Basic skills and knowledge of motor controls and logic control systems. Qualified candidates should be familiar with low voltage systems, fire alarm systems, and voice and data systems. Position provides quality control using guidelines from the National Electrical Code, local codes, safety regulations and EMCOR standard practices. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Installs and connects power supply wiring and conduit for lighting, general devices, newly installed machines and building equipment Troubleshoots and supports production controls and automation components Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged parts, broken wires, cables and connections Maintains electrical distribution equipment: 3‑phase 4‑wire 277/480 VAC, 3‑phase 4‑wire 120/208 VAC, and single‑phase 3‑wire 120/240 VAC Replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards, relays, connectors, and control buttons Maintains building lighting, task lighting, parking lot lighting, lighting contactors, emergency lights/exit lights, 120‑volt outlets, photoelectric eyes for exterior building lighting, and lighting contactors controlled by the energy management system Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings per the NEC Performs preventative maintenance on all electrical utilities and equipment at 480 V or less Prepares accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties Maintains, organizes, and cleans shop area or service van, including inventory control, tool maintenance, and calibration of testing equipment Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education: HS Diploma, under/graduate degree, or equivalent Completed Apprenticeship Program 21 years old or older 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Applicable certifications, licenses, and a valid driver’s license Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Writing routine reports and correspondence Effective speaking before groups of customers or employees Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions Physical Demands The ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, walk the facility throughout the day, kneel repetitively during shift, move in a 90‑degree fashion, work on a variety of terrains, and interact with clients professionally are required. Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, electrical shock, and vibration. Loud noise levels. May be required to work in confined, restricted, or hot areas, indoors or outdoors. Overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required.
