Position Title: Fire Watch
Location: Galveston, TX 77550
Pay: $19.00/hr.
Job Summary:
The Fire Watch is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by monitoring areas where hot work or fire hazards are present. This role ensures immediate response to fire risks and compliance with OSHA and site safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor areas where hot work (welding, cutting, grinding, etc.) is being performed
• Identify and report fire hazards
• Maintain constant surveillance during assigned shift
• Keep fire extinguishers and safety equipment readily accessible
• Sound alarms and notify emergency personnel in case of fire
• Remain onsite for the required post-work fire watch period (typically 30–60 minutes)
• Complete fire watch logs and documentation
• Follow all OSHA and site-specific safety procedures
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior construction or industrial experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of fire prevention and safety procedures
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to follow instructions and remain alert at all times
