Role Overview

Express Network, a California-based legal support services company with over 35 years of industry experience, is seeking an experienced Process Specialist to join our Oakland office. This is a full-time, in-person position responsible for coordinating and overseeing process serving operations in the Bay Area. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of California service of process requirements, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive matters simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee daily process serving assignments across the Bay Area, ensuring timely and compliant service on all matters.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for process servers — dispatching jobs, monitoring progress, and providing real-time status updates.
• Review and verify proofs of service for accuracy and compliance with California Code of Civil Procedure requirements prior to submission.
• Communicate directly with clients and attorneys to provide job updates, address inquiries, and manage expectations on complex or time-sensitive serves.
• Identify and resolve service challenges including skip tracing support, substitute service determinations, and difficult-to-serve parties.
• Maintain detailed records of all assignments, attempts, and completions within the case management system.
• Ensure all work product meets Express Network's quality standards and client-specific requirements.
• Support onboarding and training of new process servers as needed.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Court Services, E-Filing, and Client Relations on cross-functional matters.
• Manage vendor relationships with affiliate process servers and independent contractors in the region.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in process serving, legal support, or a related field.
• Strong working knowledge of California service of process laws, rules, and procedures.
• Experience coordinating or supervising process servers or field staff.
• Proficiency with case management or legal tracking software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interface professionally with attorneys and legal staff.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a high volume of concurrent assignments.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under deadline pressure.
• Familiarity with Bay Area courts and jurisdictions strongly preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
