Job Summary

Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician (ORT) position supporting a high-volume operating room across orthopedic, neurological, general, trauma, vascular, gynecological, urological, ophthalmic, and robotic procedures. The role requires independent operation across multiple service lines, strong trauma experience, and advanced proficiency in ophthalmic, vascular, robotic, and complex surgical cases.

Job Details

• Schedule: Day shift, four 10-hour shifts from 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., with a minimum of 40 hours per week. On-call coverage includes up to four 8-hour call shifts per four-week cycle.
• Required Qualifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credentials; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) from an accredited program; minimum of three years of experience as a CST; prior travel experience; Level II trauma experience; proficiency in ophthalmic procedures, including vitrectomies, scleral buckles, retinal procedures, and cataracts; general surgery; orthopedic and neurological trauma; basic urology; major vascular procedures, including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) repair; laparoscopic procedures; and the ability to independently support knee and hip procedures without a sales representative.
• Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification and Level I trauma experience.
• Additional Information: The role supports approximately 5070 surgical cases per day across 23 operating rooms and requires independent coverage of a broad range of service lines. Responsibilities include maintaining aseptic technique, preparing and handling surgical instruments and equipment, supporting robotic and laparoscopic procedures, managing specimens, and following sterilization, disinfection, laser safety, radiation safety, fire safety, and universal protocol procedures. Common equipment includes Doppler and ultrasound devices, video systems, lasers, specialized surgical tables, stapling systems, and fluid-management equipment.
