Position Summary The Guided Pathway Advisor I provides advising, support, mentoring and guidance to students under the Holistic Case Management Advising (HCMA) policy and Guided Pathways Advising (GPA) program. Guided Pathways Advisors serve as the primary point of contact for students from admission to completion. Advisors support students in creating an academic and career plan, monitoring progress, conducting research, and coordinating resources, referrals, and supports to facilitate student retention and completion and eliminate equity gaps for marginalized students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Student engagement Academic and Career Advising Retention and Holistic Supports Advising Program Development Technology Fluency and Data Analytics Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies Service on assigned committees and task forces Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings which may occur during evenings and weekends Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an appropriately related field and one (1) or more years of related experience or a Master’s degree in an appropriately related field and up to two (2) years of related experience; or a combination of education, training and experience that would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Familiarity with programs and strategies to support first‑generation, low‑income, non‑traditional, and minoritized students Demonstrated ability to use technology in the workplace Familiarity with the community college environment and its student population Demonstrated ability to independently manage workload and meet deadlines Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems Experience providing high quality and equitable customer service in a fast‑paced and high‑volume environment Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Counseling, Student Affairs Administration, or Higher Education One (1) or more year of experience supporting students in academic goal‑setting and career planning One or more years of experience in academic advising or case management (e.g., supporting student registrations, academic planning, transfer planning, etc.) Demonstrated experience utilizing case management platforms like CRM Advise, Starfish, etc. Experience conducting intakes and making referrals Ability to communicate additional languages beyond English (e.g., ASL, Spanish, Arabic, Bosnian) is considered a preferred qualification for all student and community facing positions Salary and Benefits Salary $66,804 approximate annual Generous leave policies Multiple retirement plan options Comprehensive health insurance choices Supplemental benefits for retirement and family protection Tuition reimbursement (if applicable) Equity Statement Connecticut State Community College commits to bold and disruptive change by actively identifying, naming, and dismantling structural racism, systemic poverty, and other barriers; establishing equitable and anti‑racist policies and practices; and empowering students, faculty, staff, and administrators to advance racial, social, and economic justice.
