This role ensures safe, compliant, and effective UAS mission execution by integrating airspace requirements, operational priorities, regulatory guidance, and mission objectives.What You Will DoDevelop and maintain air operations plans for unmanned systems, including flight schedules, routes, airspace usage, and mission profilesCoordinate with airspace authorities, range control, operations centers, and mission planners to ensure compliance with FAA, DoD, and local airspace regulationsAnalyze mission requirements and determine the appropriate unmanned platforms, payloads, and operational parametersSupport risk assessments, safety reviews, and pre‑flight planning activities for UAS missionsMonitor ongoing UAS operations and adjust plans based on changing mission needs, weather conditions, or airspace constraintsPrepare airspace requests, flight authorizations, and required mission documentationCollaborate with cross‑functional teams such as engineering, logistics, operations, and data analysis to ensure mission successMaintain situational awareness of airspace restrictions, NOTAMs, SUA schedules, and other relevant flight planning dataProvide operational recommendations to leadership and contribute to concept‑of‑operations (CONOPS) development for unmanned systemsTrack UAS mission performance metrics and support after‑action reviewsWhat We Are Looking For10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experienceExperience with unmanned aerial systems operations, aviation planning, or airspace managementKnowledge of FAA regulations, DoD flight procedures, and unmanned system capabilitiesAbility to interpret aeronautical charts, flight planning tools, and airspace dataStrong communication and coordination skills across technical and operational teamsExperience in military aviation, UAS operations centers, or air traffic coordination is preferredStrong analytical skills with the ability to translate test data into meaningful engineering conclusionsFamiliarity with mission planning software or UAS ground control systemsUnderstanding of operational risk management for unmanned flightAbility to manage multiple missions and priorities in dynamic environmentsAbility to develop safety risk assessments and aviation safety documentationExcellent technical writing skills for producing test plans, reports, and engineering documentationStrong communication and collaboration skills with cross functional engineering teamsClearance: Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI clearance Physical RequirementsJob performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.The listed salary range for this role is intended as a good faith estimate based on the role's location, expectations, and responsibilities.
