Entry Level Mechanic

The Entry-Level Fleet Mechanic will perform basic preventative maintenance, routine inspections, and minor mechanical repairs on the transit van and paratransit vehicle fleet. The primary goal is to ensure all transit vehicles operate safely and reliably across Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Perform routine oil changes and preventative maintenance on company buses and vehicles
• Assist with brake inspections, brake replacements, and general mechanical upkeep
• Support fleet maintenance staff with repairs and maintenance tasks as assigned
• Wash, clean, and maintain company buses and fleet vehicles
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, bus shelters, and company facilities
• Assist with facility upkeep including minor maintenance and groundskeeping duties
• Inspect vehicles for cleanliness, safety concerns, and maintenance needs
• Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas remain clean and properly maintained
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management
• Shop Upkeep as needed

Qualifications include:

• Basic mechanical knowledge preferred
• Experience performing oil changes, brake work, or vehicle maintenance preferred
• Ability to lift, bend, stand, and work in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attendance and reliability required
• Valid driver's license preferred

Physical requirements include:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods
• Ability to work around fleet vehicles, equipment, and cleaning chemicals
