Paint Operations Assistant

We are currently seeking a Paint Operations Assistant to join our Weekend Shift team at our Price, Utah facility. This position reports directly to the Paint Supervisor and offers an excellent opportunity to develop industrial painting skills while building a long-term career.

The Paint Operations Assistant provides support within the paint department by preparing equipment, materials, and work areas for industrial painting operations. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone interested in learning the industrial painting trade, with training and advancement opportunities available.

The essential responsibilities include preparing equipment and components for painting by cleaning, washing, masking, taping, caulking, vacuuming, and hanging parts; loading and unloading components onto paint racks; operating pressure washing equipment; safely operating forklifts and overhead cranes; wearing required personal protective equipment, including a respirator; preparing and cleaning metal surfaces to OEM quality standards; re-taping threaded holes and performing surface preparation as needed; assisting with disassembly, cleaning, and minor equipment repairs; performing touch-up work, patching, and surface repairs when necessary; maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment; and performing other duties as assigned.

Employees may receive on-the-job training to become an Industrial Painter. Training may include operating and maintaining paint equipment; removing existing coatings and preparing surfaces for finishing; identifying proper surface preparation methods; mixing paints and industrial coatings; applying epoxies, enamels, urethanes, varnishes, lacquers, stains, and other protective finishes; operating conventional, airless, and HVLP spray equipment; inspecting completed work to ensure quality standards are met and minimizing rework.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining dependable attendance and punctuality; following all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements; demonstrating IE's Core Values in daily work activities; maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times; assisting the Final Assembly department with assembling and installing electrical components when needed; and supporting continuous improvement efforts throughout the facility.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Completion of at least the 10th grade is required.
• Up to one month of related work experience or training is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly lift up to 20 pounds.
• Frequently lift or move up to 40 pounds.
• Occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to perform repetitive lifting, bending, standing, and other physical tasks throughout the workday on concrete flooring.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to read and understand safety procedures, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and work instructions.
• Ability to complete routine reports and written documentation.
• Effective verbal communication skills with coworkers, supervisors, and other team members.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and simple graph interpretation.
• Ability to solve practical problems using sound judgment in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to follow written, verbal, diagram-based, and scheduled work instructions.
• Basic computer skills sufficient to accurately record time and labor transactions.
• OSHA Forklift and Overhead Crane certifications are preferred, or the ability to successfully obtain certification after hire.
• Must successfully complete a Pulmonary Function Test and be able to wear a respirator as required.
• Commitment to following all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Ability to safely operate and work around industrial equipment and moving machinery.

Work Environment

• Position requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Frequent use of hands for handling materials and tools, along with reaching, climbing, balancing, and effective hearing and verbal communication.
• Regular standing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and similar physical movements are required.
• Occasional walking and sitting are also part of the position.

Work Schedule

Employees must be available to work their assigned 40-hour schedule, along with overtime or additional hours when business needs require.
