Description

Schedule: Part time, 24 hours per week, Monday-Friday day shift

This position serves as the point person for the Cardiac Rehabilitation program and associated services including activities relating to the daily functioning of the cardiac rehab department, in accordance with hospital and departmental standards and policies.

• Oversees patient referrals and session scheduling
• Completes compliance activities including reviewing charging functions daily
• Leads the day to day operations of the department, including formulating staff schedules
• Writes, reviews, revises and implements policies and procedures specific to Cardiac Rehab
• Monitors patients EKG response to exercise
• Interprets and responds to dysrhythmia
• Supervises and monitors the patient constantly throughout exercise session
• Teaches pulse-taking and exertion perception rating skills
• Assists with assessing the patients needs and setting goals for lifestyle modification
• Performs admission interviews
• Performs recordkeeping functions
• Maintains the patient's medical record
• Assists in the provision of holistic care to the cardiac rehabilitation patient
• Performs individualized education and instruction to patients and families
• Communicates effectively with medical staff, hospital personnel, patients and families
• Responsible for carrying out physician orders as they relate to cardiac rehabilitation
• Recognizes patient needs and makes referrals for ancillary services
• Performs basic physical assessment of patients
• Identifies risk factors and motivates patient and family to adopt lifestyle modifications
• Records and reports any changes in patient condition/status

Requirements

• Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the state of Iowa
• One or more years experience in cardiac critical care nursing
• BLS and ACLS Certification
• Child and Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporter Training
