Police Officer
The purpose of this classification is to protect lives, property and rights of the public; enforce statutory law and municipal ordinances, respond to emergency/non-emergency situations, and investigate criminal activity. Position may also perform tasks relating to a special function or division as assigned.
Essential Job Functions include patrolling designated areas, enforcing codes and ordinances, responding to calls, preventing/discovering commission of crime, conducting preliminary investigations, performing rescue functions, enforcing vehicle operating laws, responding to traffic accidents, providing traffic control, transporting arrestees, requesting status reports, participating in court activities, providing assistance to other agencies, performing public service duties, processing paperwork, engaging in positive community interactions, operating law enforcement machinery, inspecting/maintaining equipment, and other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications include a High school diploma or GED equivalent, minimum age of 21, successful completion of Peace Officer Basic training course, valid Georgia driver's license, passing a medical/drug screen, completing the Roswell Police Department Career Development Program, and passing the selection process.
Physical Demands involve moderately physically demanding work, including climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, perceiving colors, communicating orally, and working in adverse environmental conditions.
