Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/14/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Job Summary The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) position is located at the acute care hospital facility. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The RN will manage care for patients with diverse diagnoses, utilize clinical skills including PICC line management, IV insertion, and trach care, and work within a fast-paced hospital environment. Job Details Position / Specialty: Medical Surgical (MS) RN Shift: 3x12 Days (0645-1915) with scheduled days off every other weekend Schedule: Dayshift, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week Required Qualifications: Illinois nursing license (active and in hand), minimum 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical setting, BLS certification, experience with PICC line management, Starting IVs, and trach/laryngectomy patients (willingness to learn). Preferred Qualifications: Cerner experience, experience with central line dressing changes, suctioning of Tracheostomy and Laryngectomy patients, and other advanced wound care skills. Additional Information: Candidate must be willing to float as needed within scope, manage PICC and IVs, and be flexible with patient ratios up to 1:7 if required, though not common. The unit cares for adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with a patient census of 24 beds. The assignment begins on 09/14/2026 and concludes on 12/14/2026. Certifications: BLS required; AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted. Travel Experience: Not required. Special Requirements: Willingness to take patients with tracheostomies and laryngectomy, perform dressing changes, drain removals, and other clinical procedures. Must have previous charge nurse experience and charting system familiarity with Cerner. Unit Details: ICU level trauma center with 562 beds, equipped with advanced patient monitoring and wound care equipment. Compliance and Submission: Candidates must complete all onboarding modules, background checks, and provide SSN and DOB at time of submission. Orientation is virtual, with all Day 1 modules due by 4:00 PM CST. References may be pending at submission.
