Job Description
Job Description
What if your workday was focused on creating an environment where children can truly thrive; can you imagine how rewarding that would be?
Are you a caring, dedicated leader who wants to optimize the quality of life for young people with autism while empowering the team members who support them to do the same? As a Shift Supervisor in our Children’s Program , you’ll work under the direction of the Residence Manager (and be the liaison between the residence and On-Duty Supervisor in Residence Manager’s absence), serving as the go-to “professional in charge” during your scheduled shifts. In this role, you’ll empower, motivate, and inspire other team members to maintain a safe, clean living environment, maintain approved staff-to-individual ratios, ensure compliance, and shape the culture within the Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA) - ultimately helping to give children with autism the gift of feeling comfortable, secure, and right at home. From supervising program activities and supporting daily living skill development to cultivating the development of trusted relationships and coaching staff as needed, everything you do will come together to help create the strong, stable foundation that children in our care deserve, also giving families peace of mind. And as part of our team at Anderson, you’ll likewise get to feel right at home - with opportunities to open new doors for yourself as time goes on! Among other benefits, we offer team members clearly defined paths for career advancement, extensive paid time off, retirement plans with employer match, and the chance to share a true sense of purpose in a community we hope you’ll enjoy for years to come. What You Will Do as a Shift Supervisor- You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the residential environment, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and structure.
- You will create a nurturing, professional environment for children with autism engaged in various daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and recreational experiences.
- You will attend to the educational, physical, social, and emotional needs of residents, while assisting the team with goal-oriented and structured daily programming and data collection in an assigned service delivery area.
- You will help team members implement behavior support plans using evidence-based methods.
- You will model positive reinforcements and the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to support learning and development for children with autism.
- You will make sure that routines and systems are consistently followed in the IRA during your shift.
- You will ensure that activities and opportunities are provided that will support the highest quality of life possible for individuals (using the eight domains outlined in the QofL agency guidelines).
- You will coach and support the residential team as needed, with the goal of increasing socially significant behavior and achieving individualized goals.
- You will ensure compliance with agency and regulatory requirements.
- You will be involved in all aspects of crisis management until resolution, and follow all health, safety, and emergency protocols.
- You will review and monitor all assignments related to Health & Safety of the students and environmental maintenance.
- You will communicate important behavioral information to parents/guardians and multidisciplinary team professionals in a timely, clear, respectful, sensitive manner.
- You will help cultivate a sense of belonging and spirit of acceptance that will promote personal growth, socialization, and autonomy.
- You will perform duties as indicated by Program Administrators and the On-Duty Supervisor in the absence of the Residence Manager.
- You will be steadfastly devoted to the safety and well-being of residents with whom you work.
What You Can Bring to the Team:
- Reliability, integrity, compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to protect the safety and well-being of individuals with autism.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, and ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a team.
- The ability to adapt to changing situations, and to handle challenging circumstances with empathy, unconditional positive regard for individuals you serve, and unwavering professionalism.
- Alignment with our mission and values.
- An openness to mentorship and ongoing guidance as you navigate your role.
- Dedication to optimizing the quality of life for everyone who is part of our Anderson Center for Autism community.
Additional Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- A minimum of 12 months of direct care experience.

- Must be capable at all times of initiating or assisting in all components of the crisis intervention of the agency.
- Must be capable at all times of assisting occupants in the orderly evacuation of the facility, by both primary and secondary paths in the event of fire or other emergency.
- Ability to successfully complete and maintain required orientation, training, and professional qualifications.
