Position Summary:

The Accounting Manager supports the Controller in building and maintaining a scalable, accurate, and well-controlled accounting function. This position is responsible for establishing and improving accounting processes, procedures, internal controls, reconciliations, and financial reporting practices that support timely and accurate financial results.

This role will take ownership of identifying process gaps, developing practical solutions, documenting procedures, implementing controls, and creating accountability across the accounting team. This role is expected to be hands-on and comfortable operating in an environment where processes may need to be created, standardized, or improved.

\n What You Will Do

• Prepares financial statements to summarize and forecast the company’s financial status.
• Assists with management of accounting, auditing and budgeting within the organization.
• Assists with preparations for audits.
• Establish standardized account reconciliation requirements, supporting documentation standards, review procedures, and reconciliation deadlines. Uses accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
• Provides guidance and training to accounting staff and delegates tasks as appropriate.
• Coordinates with and prepares reports for Controller, CFO and upper management.
• Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
• Support and continuously improve the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Evaluate existing accounting processes for efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and appropriate controls and lead process redesign where needed.
• Build recurring accounting processes that are repeatable, measurable, documented, and not dependent on institutional knowledge held by one individual.
• Partner with operational teams to improve the quality, timeliness, and completeness of information flowing into Accounting.
• Establish appropriate accounting KPIs and monitor performance against close deadlines, reconciliations, transaction processing, and other accounting objectives.
• Support implementation and optimization of accounting systems, workflows, and automation

What You Will Need to be Successful

• BS or BA in accounting
• Three to six years of relevant accounting experience
• CPA or CMA preferred
• Accounting management experience
• Construction accounting experience
• Proficiency with accounting software; experience with Viewpoint Vista ERP preferred
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to efficiently analyze, reconcile, and organize financial data.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provide guidance and oversight to accounting staff as needed. May directly supervise a small staff (1-4).

Special Requirements/Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Work is primarily performed in an office setting with minimal health or safety hazards. Noise level and temperature is moderate. Minimal lifting or climbing. Some travel such as, but not limited to, other offices, work sites and local business errands. Requires operating office machines such as, but not limited to, computers, copiers, scanners and phones.

Communication Skills:

Ability to clearly communicate accounting requirements, process changes, control expectations, and financial information to both accounting and non-accounting personnel. Strong written communication skills and the ability to document processes and procedures clearly.

Reasoning Ability and/or Critical Thinking:

Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to work through ambiguous problems, identify root causes, assess risk, develop practical solutions, and independently drive improvements through implementation.

$125,000 - $158,000 a year
