Senior Deputy Constable - C

Senior Deputy Constable – C Pay Rate: $31.14 – $37.34. Time Type: Full time. Summary Duties and Responsibilities Preserves the peace within the officer’s jurisdiction by all lawful means, performed as patrol, enforce traffic regulations, undertake investigations, arrest law breakers, carry out executions of judgment, summon persons to aid in duties when necessary and complete juries. Prevents and suppresses crime where authorized by the Code of Criminal Procedures, which may include seizing, impounding, and selling real and personal property as directed by law. Executes all lawful criminal process issued to the officer by any magistrate or court, including giving notice to magistrate of offenses committed within the jurisdiction, delivering court actions such as citations, writs, or subpoenas. Arrests offenders without warrant in every case where the officer is authorized by law, to bring them before the proper magistrate or court. Prepares incident reports, completes administrative forms, and maintains activity logs. Trains other peace officers in discipline related topics, engaging in training to advance service quality. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate. Advanced knowledge of law enforcement and security operations and the responsibilities of a peace officer. Holds a current/valid Intermediate, Advanced or Master Peace Officer License from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCOLE). Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and an insurable driving record. Must secure and maintain a favorable Constable background and security clearance. Must clear a pre‑employment physical and a pre‑employment drug screen test. May be required to work a non‑traditional schedule in excess of 40 hours a week, including evenings and weekends. Working Environment and Physical Demands Frequently working in County facilities. Frequent operation or riding in police‑type vehicles. Frequent work outside vehicle serving legal papers. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather environments. Must have physical stamina to control persons who may be agitated or resistant. Occasional exposure to hostile or violent individuals and to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, or other potentially infectious material. Occasional movement of items weighing up to 25 pounds. Frequent communication with others; must exchange accurate information. Constant operation of two‑way radio, cellular phone, handgun, and handcuffs. Constant operation of computer and other office productivity machinery. Positions self to perform essential functions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position.
