Project Engineer

Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive field assessments, including onsite electrical equipment evaluations, operational testing, and commissioning activities. Perform regular inspections of buildings and equipment to identify maintenance and repair needs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices. Supervise electrical equipment maintenance, testing activities, and contractor work to ensure quality standards are met. Manage the entire project lifecycle, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, track progress against milestones, and ensure deliverables are completed within established timelines and budget constraints. Assist in cost estimation, procurement of materials, and implementation of cost control measures throughout project execution. Review and approve project expenses, change orders, and payment applications as needed. Collaborate on designing project plans, specifications, and engineering drawings using CAD software, ensuring all designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards. Provide technical expertise in building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety systems, and reliable power systems (UPS, batteries, emergency generators, transfer switches, switchgear, and distributed generation). Coordinate with client, contractors, and vendors to oversee equipment installation, testing, and maintenance events; identify potential safety issues and prepare detailed MOPs. Serve as the primary point of contact for project‑related communication with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and regulatory authorities. Negotiate contracts, monitor service delivery, and analyze project contracts to ensure compliance throughout execution. Facilitate regular progress meetings and provide timely project updates. Establish and enforce quality control procedures to ensure project standards are consistently met. Identify potential project risks, develop proactive mitigation strategies, conduct thorough risk assessments, and implement monitoring and control measures. Resolve complex technical issues and provide recommendations for continuous improvement. Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation: maintenance schedules, equipment logs, service records, project budgets, and technical specifications. Maintain accurate project documentation to ensure compliance and facilitate informed decision‑making. Stay current with industry trends and identify opportunities to enhance technical services delivery. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facility Management, or related field. Minimum 1–2 years of experience in data centers, technical services, facilities management, or related project engineering roles. Demonstrated experience with reliable power systems including UPS, batteries, emergency generators, transfer switches, switchgear, or distributed generation. Strong knowledge of construction principles, processes, methodologies, and industry best practices. Sound understanding of engineering and construction principles; proficiency in building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety. Proficiency with project management software and tools, and with computer‑aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD. Familiarity with facilities management software systems. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, organizational skills, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership capabilities to manage, motivate, and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment where collaboration and innovation are valued. Location: On‑site – New York, NY; Princeton, NJ. Estimated compensation: $100,000.00 – $125,000.00 USD per year (range is an estimate; final compensation may vary).
