Operations Manager

Position Description – Operations Manager Class A CDL and Doubles endorsement required. Reports to: General Manager. JOB SUMMARY The Operations Manager is responsible for the effective and successful management of all operational functions of the location; collaborates with senior leadership and the Strategic Operations team to implement operational procedures and guidelines for the location, overseeing the Warehouse and Delivery managers and ensuring safe and efficient operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead, manage, support, and motivate the location’s Warehouse and Delivery teams through open and clear communication, and a commitment to participative management. Take accountability for safety protocol, and for oversight of training and safety of Warehouse and Delivery Departments at the location. Promote and maintain a safe work environment at the location daily. Help oversee safety and security of the facilities at the location. Work closely with the Executive Team, SVPs, GMs, and Strategic Operations team to create and implement operational policies, programs, and processes for location, ensuring they are consistently administered in compliance with organizational objectives and local laws; this includes but is not limited to processes, methods, equipment, and materials. Oversee Warehouse Manager(s), ensuring all Warehouse employees are properly trained, abide by company policies and procedures, and hold employees and supervisors accountable to those standards. Oversee Delivery Manager(s), ensuring all Delivery employees are properly trained, abide by company policies and procedures, and hold employees and supervisors accountable to those standards. Ensure general maintenance and cleanup of the facility is performed, including the warehouse, offices, and property. Work with the legal department, SVP, and General Manager to ensure compliance with all supplier requirements for all warehouse functions. Perform all work activities in accordance with safe work practices, policies, and procedures. Perform all other duties as assigned. SUPERVISION Direct the daily workflow of the company’s Operations Department. Report directly to the General Manager, and indirectly to the SVP, executive team, and family ownership. Use strengths‑based management so each supervised person knows his/her strengths and weaknesses and uses strengths in day‑to‑day work. Ensure that each supervised employee has opportunities for personal and professional growth. Provide clear expectations for each supervised staff member. Model adherence to GDH’s Mission and Values and hold staff accountable for knowing and practicing the values. Complete coaching regularly of supervised staff and conduct an annual performance evaluation on due date. Provide direct supervision to the Warehouse Managers and Delivery Managers. Learning Organization and Staff Training Actively participate in internal and external training opportunities. Exhibit enthusiasm for learning and personal growth. COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP Represent GDH Mission and Values at work and within the community at all times. TECHNOLOGY Effectively use office equipment (copiers, fax machines, scanners), a personal computer and Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Explorer. Efficiently use operations management software, including VIP. QUALIFICATIONS Preferred bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, engineering, or another industry‑related field. Access to reliable transportation. If driving an automobile while on company business, must possess a valid driver’s license in your state of residence and auto insurance. Must be able to pass a background check, MVR, and drug screen. Demonstrated ability to: Work effectively with internal and external individuals, including other professionals in the community. Work effectively as a member of the leadership team. Effectively communicate to various internal and external audiences in person and through various electronic media. Manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision. Effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
