Senior Engineer- New Product Development

Job Description As a Senior Engineer in the New Product Development (NPD) team, you will drive innovation, design cutting‑edge products, and bring ideas to life in the Semiconductor in‑chamber segment. Your work will involve leading cross‑functional teams of engineers, technicians, operations leaders, and production members to develop new products from concept to launch. The position is located in Columbia. Key Responsibilities Lead new product development projects from inception to completion, ensuring transition to production readiness and full product launch. Coordinate cross‑functional team members and manage project activities, scope, budget, and timelines. Interface directly with external customers to understand needs and ensure solutions meet or exceed expectations. Identify and improve products or processes that impact work centers or cells across multiple Watlow locations. Apply manufacturing systems knowledge (FMEA, process flow mapping, production readiness) to support product deployment. Use SolidWorks for product design and maintain hands‑on mechanical knowledge of equipment. Participate in financial project reviews, analyzing bill of materials costs, labor time, and risk factors. Demonstrate in‑depth technical expertise and problem‑solving skills to unify team efforts toward common goals. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering. Minimum five years of relevant experience. Effective project‑management skills, including communication, time management, collaboration, budgeting, and problem solving. Technical experience with thermal systems, electric heaters, temperature sensors, heat exchangers, or flex leads. Strong understanding of moving a new product from development to full release in manufacturing. SolidWorks experience is a plus. Experience in supervisory training and roles. Background in one or more engineering disciplines. Desired Qualifications Expertise in applying Lean principles and leading projects to successful completion in a Lean or Agile environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, SolidWorks, and/or project‑management software. Enjoyment of developing new relationships with customers and peers and collaborating on problem solving.
