Position Overview

OMG currently operates in two Divisions: OMG Roofing Products and FastenMaster®. OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry. The FastenMaster Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier. OMG is focused on manufacturing and packaging products that meet customer specifications from a quality and delivery perspective. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the TIG Welder uses tungsten inert gas to join various metals. The position requires advanced welding skills, attention to detail and quality, and the ability to produce parts with accuracy and precision.

Position Responsibilities

• Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all OMG employees.
• Perform TIG welding of thin gauge metals.
• Identify materials and equipment required based on blueprints and welding codes.
• Clamp, measure and align metal parts prior to welding using calipers, templates and straightedges.
• Inspect completed work product for any defects.
• Identify pipe leakages by filling with water or air.
• Perform maintenance and repair activities for piping systems as required.
• Maintain specification files for efficient use of past project work.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Position Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Welding certification preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of welding techniques of various metals.
• Familiarity with visual weld inspection procedures.
• Ability to operate power tools and hand tools, in addition to TIG welding equipment.
• Experience measuring parts with calipers, templates and straightedges.
• Familiarity with manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes a plus.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles a plus.
• Ability to interpret safety instructions, job orders, blueprints, quality specifications, and other related documents.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong math and mechanical reasoning skills.
• Ability to contribute as part of a team.
• Good close vision and depth perception skills.
• Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent time management skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in high-noise areas and wear appropriate hearing protection devices.
• Manual material handling involving the need to grip, squeeze, and pinch.
• The position requires the ability to regularly stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift/push/pull/carry up to 50 pounds.
