Mechanic- Maintenance 2nd shift - 2pm - 10:30pm Location: Chicago - Ashland, Chicago, IL 60609, USA The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for proactively maintaining the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive and predictive maintenance. Responsibilities Assist in installing and servicing equipment using required self-supplied and company-supplied hand tools. Answer calls for service in a timely manner. Perform assigned preventive maintenance tasks. Move and raise components using hoists, dollies, or other provided equipment. Update daily work communications. Maintain tools, powered vehicles, and equipment; keep parts and supplies in order. Ensure a clean and hazard‑free work area throughout the day. Use and maintain safety equipment on job sites. Perform other duties as business needs. Follow applicable safety and environmental requirements, food safety, and GMP. Execute job order assignments and keep accurate job order records. Participate in root cause analysis (RCA). Assist members at all grade levels with troubleshooting. Qualifications Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a maintenance mechanic. Solid understanding of maintenance fundamentals and electrical power. Mechanically inclined with basic mechanics and electrical knowledge. Computer and technology aptitude. Ability to read and understand various methods of mechanical and other technical drawings. Basic knowledge of correct use and care of various tools used in maintenance work. Ability to follow procedures as outlined in equipment manufacturer’s maintenance manual. Basic knowledge of gassing, arc welding, and/or TIG welding. Basic knowledge of diagnosing equipment failures and correcting them. Familiarity with air compressors, pumps, boilers, and other common mechanical equipment. Education and Physical Requirements High school diploma or equivalent GED; an associate degree in mechanical or industrial engineering is preferred but not required. Must be able to climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, and stand for long periods; lift up to 50 lbs. for short distances. Comfortable working with heights and confined spaces, and in a non‑climate‑controlled environment. Compensation / Benefits Hourly pay range: $26.14–$39.25 per hour. The final hourly rate will be based on experience, skills, education, internal equity, and market considerations. Eligible for overtime pay, shift differentials, and/or bonus opportunities.
