Career Tech/CBE AdvisorThe Career Tech/CBE Advisor serves as the student's main point of contact for students enrolled in Career Tech and Competency-Based Education programs. This role is essential to student success, retention, and career development through a holistic, student-centered approach. This includes guiding students from intake to graduation by understanding their unique goals, responsibilities, and challenges, and collaboratively developing action plans for success.Essential Duties or ResponsibilitiesThe essential duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Other related duties which may be required by the Director of Student Success (duties that may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but are generally within the occupational series and responsibility level associated with the employee's class of work).Participate in CTE/CBE recruitment, registration, orientation, and student success activities as assigned.Maintain accurate advising, student contact, and follow-up records in college systems.Respond to early alerts and proactively intervene when students experience academic, attendance, or enrollment concerns.Assist students with program selection, academic planning, course registration, and enrollment requirements.Collaborate with CTE faculty/program coordinators, workforce and employer partners, when appropriate, to help connect students with career opportunities, and employment pathways.Maintain knowledge of CTE/CBE program requirements, industry credentials, workforce pathways, prerequisites, and admission requirements to provide accurate guidance to students.Student Success Coaching, Holistic Support & RetentionPrepare and conduct one-on-one coaching sessions to support students in their educational and career journey. Conduct intake and assessments to identify student needs, challenges, and barriers. Build rapport and trust with students to support successful program completion. Serve as student mentor, advocate, and primary on-campus support.Help each student develop a success plan that sets realistic expectations for time management, degree completion, and balancing pre-existing responsibilities and commitments with academics.Provide interventions and strategies to support students through a variety of academic and non-academic challenges.Schedule regular meetings to develop an action plan to track and monitor the academic progress of each student, using various tools such as the learning management system and instructor feedback. Teach students effective decision-making, problem-solving, and self-advocacy skills. Conduct regular follow-up with program students while monitoring progression toward certificates/degrees.Promptly respond to emails, inquiries, and alerts submitted in the early alert management system in a timely fashion. Engage in a team approach with faculty, academic support staff, and other success coaches to serve individual student needs.Create clear and concise case notes, accurately documenting all student coaching interactions in the college-designated case notes platform.Collaboration, Transfer & Academic PartnershipsWork closely with faculty, staff and campus services to execute the best possible plan for student success.Assist with dual credit activities as needed by the Coordinator of High School Partnerships & Pathways.Continuous Quality Improvement & Institutional EngagementIdentify, improve, and update processes to better serve the needs of students; collaborate with various departments and staff to evaluate, modify, and execute policies and procedures as needed.OperationsMaintain up-to-date skill sets for the College's ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.Serve as an evening and/or weekend advisor during peak enrollment periods.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications – Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Education, Business Administration, Student Services, or a related field.A minimum of two (2) years of experience in academic advising, admissions, student services, or a related area.Familiarity with federal and state financial aid programs, policies, and regulations.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExcellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to assess student needs and provide appropriate advisement on financial aid, enrollment, and academic plans.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, prioritize multiple requests, and work in a fast-paced environment while providing attention to detail.Ability to work effectively with students of various ages, learning styles, academic levels, and cultural backgrounds.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use college systemsKnowledge of success coaching and/or various advising models.Required Supplemental DocumentationPlease submit the following documents with your application.
