Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgical StepdownWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for our Surgical Stepdown unit. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality, compassionate care to post-operative patients, with a focus on urology and bariatric surgery cases.The unit is a 28-bed facility that specializes in post-operative care for various surgical procedures, including:Bariatric reduction surgeriesUrologic and nephrology surgeriesInfectious processes such as cellulitis, abscesses, wounds, and ulcersOsteomyelitis and gastrointestinal diseasesCholecystectomy, appendectomy, and amputationsKey responsibilities include:Provide direct patient care and monitor patient progress.Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery.Maintain accurate patient documentation using the Epic charting system.Qualifications:Must possess a valid RN license in Kansas or a multistate license.AHA BLS certification required at time of submission.Minimum of 1 year of progressive care or step down nursing experience.Education: ADN or BSN required.Shift details:12-hour shifts with 36 hours guaranteed per week.Every other weekend rotation required.Holiday rotation policy allows for the request of 1 holiday off.The unit follows a staffing ratio of 1:6, ensuring a manageable workload and high-quality patient care. Jewelry and body adornment policies permit visible tattoos that are non-offensive, as well as piercings that maintain a professional appearance.Vaccination requirements include:Immunity status for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella through titer or proof of vaccination series completion.Annual influenza vaccination or exemption request during flu season, as well as TB documentation.Location: This position is located in Topeka, KS.
