Position Summary The Other Licensed Practitioner (OLP) plays a key role within the Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS) framework. This position provides specialized, community‑based clinical services to youth ages 5–21 and their families. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, direct psychotherapy and the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans. Services may involve both individual and family therapy, tailored to each child’s needs and circumstances. Essential Accountabilities Clinical Expertise: Demonstrates a solid understanding of childhood psychiatric disorders, including development, clinical presentation, pathology, trauma impacts, and the effects on social and occupational functioning. Treatment Modalities: Uses evidence‑based interventions for childhood mental health disorders and remains open to ongoing professional development and training. System of Care Knowledge: Maintains a working knowledge of the children’s mental health system of care, Office of Mental Health (OMH) and available community resources. Assessment & Planning: Completes initial and ongoing assessments, establishes diagnoses, identifies strengths and needs, and develops detailed, individualized treatment plans. Therapeutic Services: Provides age‑appropriate individual and family psychotherapy using evidence‑based approaches. Home & Community Integration: Implements strategies that support cognitive, behavioral, and emotional self‑regulation across home, school, and community settings. Crisis Management: Develops safety and alert plans, provides crisis prevention and post‑crisis debriefing, and addresses family dynamics to reduce future crises. Family Engagement: Works closely with families and natural supports to reinforce treatment goals and create a supportive environment. Education & Skills Training: Offers psychoeducation, parenting skills training, and strategies to strengthen child–family relationships. Cultural Competence: Respects and incorporates cultural norms and strengths, maintaining a non‑judgmental, inclusive approach. Compliance & Documentation: Maintains accurate, timely records in the Electronic Health Record (Avatar) and ensures adherence to all regulatory standards. Collaboration & Communication: Builds collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and participates in CFTSS team meetings and training. Supervision & Growth: Engages in regular supervision and professional development to enhance clinical skills. Policy Adherence: Follows all organizational policies, including those related to HR, time management, and operational procedures. Complete the Mandated Reporter Training. Adhere to all confidentiality laws and guidelines. Track all paperwork due dates and submit by assigned deadlines. Recognize and report suspected and known child abuse. Report any potential youth high risk behaviors/concerns to supervisor. Maintain awareness of any incident reporting guidelines. Maintain required Direct Service Units. Schedule client visits and monitor weekly Direct Service Units. Participate in supervisions as scheduled. Submit weekly schedule to Supervisor (any changes to schedule must be reported to Supervisor as they occur). Utilize Paycom to indicate accurate hours worked. Track and submit mileage. Participate in Division‑wide trainings, staff events and program meetings. Attend workshops, conferences, OMH trainings, etc. Transport youth with personal vehicle, as needed. Responsible for having access to a personal vehicle throughout the course of the work day. Submission of auto insurance policy before expiration date. Adhere to protocols of agency Safety Policy. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications The candidate must be a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC or equivalent) with at least one year of experience working with children diagnosed with Serious Emotional Disturbances (SED) and their families. A valid and clean New York State driver’s license is required along with reliable and insured transportation. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
