In-House Counsel

Role Overview

We are seeking a practical, solution-oriented lawyer to join our Legal Department. Supporting the Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) family of affiliated companies, you will provide critical legal and commercial guidance across our diverse maritime, offshore energy, and subsea operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Contract Management: Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial and maritime agreements, including vessel charter parties, service contracts, lease and sale agreements, vendor agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
• Legal Guidance: Provide accurate, actionable legal counsel to various ECO business units, as a member of the Legal Department with regular interaction with Senior Management.
• Regulatory Compliance: Support the review of commercial, operational, safety, and regulatory terms, developing expertise in areas critical to our businesses.
• Corporate Law: Advise businesses on risk management, corporate structuring, and other corporate matters.
• Dispute Resolution: Handle contractual disputes, collections, and manage external legal counsel when necessary.

Requirements

• Active License to practice law in the State of Louisiana.
• Active Notarial Commission for the State of Louisiana.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with productivity tools (Word, Excel, Google Suite).
• A commercial and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior in-house counsel, contract review, or negotiation experience.
• Familiarity with maritime operations, insurance, business law, and corporate procedures.
• Post-law school experience focusing on commercial law, transactional work, or regulatory advising.
