Senior Controls Engineer

Want to own a project from first sketch to a machine running on the floor? ASI is hiring a Senior Controls Engineer in Lake City, MN, where your work ships and you get to see it run. Hybrid, remote, or relocation is on the table for the right candidate.

Your Role Will Include:

• Design, program, test, and debug PLC and HMI control systems.
• Independently lead field startup and commissioning under pressure.
• Own projects end to end: design, panel layout, programming, testing, startup, and handoff.
• Program and tune VFDs and servo/motion systems on multi-axis machinery.
• Produce electrical design and schematics in AutoCAD Electrical.
• Work directly with customers in the field, training operators and representing ASI on-site.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years designing and commissioning industrial control systems.
• 2-year degree in Mechatronics, EET, or Electronics (a 4-year EE degree), or equivalent experience.
• Strong PLC programming across Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, and RSLogix 500.
• FactoryTalk View ME/ SE HMI development.
• Hands-on VFD and servo/motion experience.
• AutoCAD Electrical proficiency.
• Working knowledge of UL 508A panel standards.
• Willing to travel and work startup hours.
• Professional composure with customers, even when a project gets tense.

Preferred

• Prior sales, bidding, or estimating experience.
• Established relationships in industrial automation.

Salary and Benefits:

• Base pay $52.88 to $62.50 per hour, with overtime for hours over 40, typically totaling $110,000 to $130,000 annually, plus a field travel stipend.

Location & Shift Times:

• Lake City, MN, or hybrid/remote; relocation support also available.
• Core hours roughly 7:00 AM to 5:00/6:00 PM, with 8 to 12 hour days during commissioning.

Physical Demands:

• Extended hours at a computer.
• 8 to 12 hour days during field commissioning; walking, bending, squatting, reaching.
• Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs to waist height.
• Travel required for field startups.
