Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License required Certifications: TNCC, ACLS, PALS, BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - Experienced ED RN comfortable with commonly seen ED chief complaints. - Ability to care for trauma patients. - Positive, flexible, team-oriented, patient-centered personality. Description: The position is available in an Emergency Department setting. The unit has a total of 11 beds. Patient ratios are based on acuity, with ratios of 1:4 or 1:6. Staffing includes mid-shift PCTs. RNs and PCTs will run point of care (POC) labs. RNs will be responsible for setting up and adjusting respiratory equipment for patients. Assistance is available via phone from the main facility. All patient rooms are equipped with cardiac/vital sign monitors. A complete inventory of necessary supplies and equipment is on hand for patient care. The documentation system used is Meditech. Special scheduling requirements include every other weekend shifts. There is a possibility of floating to the main ED. Patient experience requirements include the use of AIDET, narration of care, and SBAR for department admissions and transfers. The facility is a Level II trauma and cardiac care center, a primary stroke center, a burn center, and has a Level II NICU. Candidates must possess the required certifications and experience. Procedures performed in this unit include IV insertions, Foley catheter insertions, and NG tube insertions. RNs will assist providers with various common ED procedures. The dress code is royal blue scrubs. This is a new facility built from the ground up with all new equipment. There is an opportunity to learn new skills, including running BiPAP and ventilator equipment, as well as performing point of care labs. The team is in the process of being fully staffed. The position offers a 48-hour work week with required weekend shifts.
