Registered Nurse - Oncology

Overview Provide professional nursing care to patients within the medical practice in support of, and as directed by, the physicians. Assist the physician in the treatment of patients and complete related clinical paperwork. Integrate the Mercy philosophy of caring for the sick and suffering, respect for human life and the dignity of each person, and apply Christian values to all crucial human issues in the area under your responsibility. In communicating with patients, families, visitors and employees, maintain a caring, friendly, personal and professional approach. Perform related duties as assigned. Responsibilities Assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Complete clinical paperwork and documentation. Communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors and staff. Maintain a caring, friendly, professional demeanor at all times. React calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Knowledge of nursing principles, patient care, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures, medications and their effects, patient education, self‑care program development, instruments and common safety practices. Licensure: Current valid state nursing license. Certification: CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of employment. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Skill in assisting and performing a variety of medical treatments and procedures. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and policies. Proficiency in communicating clearly and establishing effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public. Basic computer terminal and keyboard skills, or ability to learn these skills, to access information and enter clinical data. Equipment Must be able to operate equipment normally related to the specialty of the clinic.
