Senior Medical Science Liaison – Rare Dermatology (West Coast) Chiesi USA is seeking a Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr. MSL) to build key opinion leader (KOL) partnerships and deliver scientific engagement in Rare Dermatology across the West Coast. The role involves establishing long‑term relationships, providing scientific education, and supporting clinical research initiatives at key institutions while maintaining high‑level HEOR and RWE knowledge. Key Responsibilities Scientific Exchange, advice seeking and clinical development support: Build external partnerships with recognized community and academic medical center KOLs to identify and address scientific needs and stay abreast of current scientific trends. Identify and develop key thought leaders for medical education, clinical research, and publication opportunities. Cultivate existing and new collaborative KOL relationships for advisory boards, investigator‑initiated research, and speaker development. Provide field insights to team leaders for organization‑wide elevation. Deliver high‑caliber medical education presentations in various settings. Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence in accordance with company policies. Represent Chiesi USA Medical Affairs at national, regional, and local scientific meetings. Offer field‑based medical affairs assistance for clinical research initiatives, including investigator‑initiated trials. Recognize opportunities to facilitate cross‑functional engagement based on customer needs. Maintain high‑level awareness of HEOR and RWE concepts to support tailored scientific dialogue. Partner and plan with business partners in the assigned region to optimize customer experience. Therapeutic Support, Internal Collaboration, and Project Work: Lead and support internal medical projects aligned with the individual development plan. Support cross‑functional projects and streamline medical input. Contribute to clinical research, medical education material development, and internal training initiatives. Participate in monthly medical meetings, including journal clubs and team meetings. Mentor and onboard new team members. Administrative Work: Accurate and timely completion of field activity documentation, expense reporting, and administrative reports. Complete required training on time, including assessment with an acceptable score. Maintain high‑level expertise in the assigned therapeutic area(s) and keep professional licensing/certifications current. Qualifications Graduate‑level degree (PharmD, M.D., D.O., DNP, Ph.D., MSN, MS, or equivalent) with relevant clinical experience. 5–7 years MSL experience in Rare Disease (exception for PhD candidates with requisite experience). Strong ability to build and leverage strategic internal and external relationships. Demonstrated teamwork and collaborative mindset in multi‑disciplinary settings. Excellent planning, prioritization, and execution skills with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment. High self‑awareness, growth mindset, positivity, and flexibility under challenging situations. Exceptional scientific and clinical expertise in Rare Dermatology, including pharmacoeconomic and real‑world evidence knowledge. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; persuasive in formal and informal presentations. Adept at teaching complex, scientific ideas clearly to diverse audiences. Active listening and insightful questioning to enhance mutual understanding. Diplomacy while maintaining evidence‑based credibility. Professional communication to cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers. Location Field‑Based/Remote position, up to 75% travel. Candidates must reside in the Central U.S. territory; relocation services will not be offered. Compensation Annual base pay ranges from $183,870 to $224,730. Base pay may vary based on location, experience, and other factors. This at‑will position includes the possibility of overtime pay for qualifying overtime hours.
