Weekend Fork Lift Operator

Tug/Fork Truck Operator

Safely operate forklift and tugger. Separate containers to include scrap metal, wood, car parts and other recyclables. Bale plastic and cardboard, dispose of trash into compactors, load the wood, tire and plastic trucks, perform trailer inspection. Pick up items throughout the plant.

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols
  • Operate forklifts and tugs in a safe manner.
  • Complete prior-use checklist
  • Separate metal scrap, wood pallets, and gondolas
  • Deliver scrap metal and nonhazardous material to the appropriate destinations
  • Transport barrels, gaylords, and tire bands throughout the plant
  • Complete trailer inspections on all trailers before loading and report and damage found
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger motion, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, climb stairs and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
