Assistant Manager of Post Harvest

PharmaCann, Inc. owns and operates best-in-class production facilities and retail dispensaries for cannabis-based products. We currently operate in the States of Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Colorado and Michigan as a medical and/or adult use cannabis provider to patients and customers. Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading and supervising the Trim and Cure departments through effective leadership, communication, coordination, and training to achieve weekly production objectives in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner. This role oversees the processing of cannabis from harvest through the curing process to preparation for packaging, ensuring quality standards, productivity goals, and operational expectations are consistently met.The Assistant Manager is responsible for guiding, developing, and instructing team members while maintaining departmental supplies, equipment, and organization. This role must lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and a strong commitment to safety at all times. Reporting to the Manager of Post Harvest, the Assistant Manager will work collaboratively with all Post Production departments to ensure seamless workflow and maximize the effectiveness of harvesting, trimming, drying, curing, and packaging operations.

The salary is $67,500

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities

Leadership Procedures & Tasks

• Provide daily leadership, guidance, and direction to Trim and Cure team members to ensure production, productivity, quality, safety, and compliance goals are consistently achieved.
• Supervise all aspects of the Trim and Cure operations, including workflow, staffing, production cadence, quality control, plant movement, drying and curing processes, and preparation of product for Packaging.
• Assign, prioritize, and monitor daily work to ensure departmental objectives are completed accurately, efficiently, and within established timelines.
• Support the Manager of Post Harvest with employee hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, attendance management, conflict resolution, and employee development.
• Develop and maintain effective communication with team members and other departments to promote collaboration, operational efficiency, and a positive work environment.
• Ensure all employees understand and adhere to company policies, SOPs, GMP standards, safety requirements, and compliance regulations. Adjust departmental practices as necessary to accommodate regulatory or operational changes.
• Provide ongoing technical training and instruction to team members, adapting coaching methods based on employee development, product characteristics, R&D initiatives, and operational needs.
• Maintain direct oversight of departmental operations to ensure employees are performing work safely, accurately, and efficiently while meeting established productivity and quality expectations.
• Oversee all product movement, inventory accuracy, METRC transactions, weigh-ins, and required documentation within the Trim and Cure departments .Able to pivot as needed.
• Monitor product quality throughout the trimming, curing, and post-harvest processes to ensure company quality standards are maintained before transfer to Packaging.
• Coordinate with cross-functional departments to maintain efficient workflow and achieve facility production objectives.
• Ensure department supplies, tools, machinery, drying chambers, and equipment are maintained, used properly, and kept in good working condition. Promptly communicate maintenance needs and operational concerns.
• Escalate safety, security, compliance, plant health, equipment, or operational concerns through the appropriate leadership channels in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready work environment that complies with GMP standards and company expectations.
• Assist with departmental and facility projects by helping define priorities, allocating resources, and completing deliverables on schedule and within budget.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the complete cultivation and post-harvest workflow and support operational decisions that improve efficiency and product quality.
• Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Be prepared to assist other Post Production and Production departments as business needs require, including Packaging, Farm, sanitation, light maintenance, and other operational tasks.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Manager of Post Harvest.

Workspace and Material Maintenance

• Guide and train Post Harvest team members to maintain clean, organized, safe, and efficient work areas throughout the Trim and Cure departments in accordance with company standards and SOPs.
• Ensure workspaces remain inspection-ready by maintaining cleanliness, organization, sanitation, and proper housekeeping practices throughout each shift.
• Oversee the proper use, cleaning, maintenance, and storage of departmental equipment, machinery, drying chambers, tools, and supplies to maximize equipment longevity and operational efficiency.
• Monitor the condition of departmental equipment and facilities, promptly reporting maintenance needs or operational concerns to the Manager of Post Harvest and coordinating corrective actions as appropriate.
• Maintain adequate inventories of departmental supplies and equipment by coordinating purchasing needs and replenishment with the Supply Chain department to support uninterrupted workflow.
• Monitor product conditions throughout the Trim and Cure processes and communicate quality, plant health, or processing concerns to the appropriate leadership in a timely manner.
• Ensure all product, materials, equipment, and workstations are organized according to company procedures to promote efficiency, traceability, and compliance.
• Lead by example in maintaining a safe, well-maintained, and organized work environment while providing guidance and support to team members in following all cleaning, sanitizing, and organizational procedures.
• Support daily operational readiness by assisting with departmental setup at the beginning of each shift and ensuring proper cleanup, sanitation, and organization at the end of each shift.

Compliance and Reporting

• Supervise and instruct department staff in upholding current laws and regulations towards the cultivation facility. Adapt to updated laws and regulations to implement safe and effective practices to sustain highest quality standards and efficiencies.
• Oversee and support the organizing and securing of all METRC tags and harvest batches. Update and track all required information in METRC, logs, and spreadsheets daily.
• Monitor and address situations which may include lost tags, minimizing bud/product loss.
• Determine product for extraction.
• Following instructed procedures to maintain compliance and safety. Reporting compliance or safety mistakes/errors created to the leadership of the department.
• Supervise department staff in training and coordinate to ensure compliance with completing objectives. Coach, discipline, and analyze with staff to maintain compliant practices and workflow. Any compliance or safety mistake or error created must be addressed, reported, and resolved. Communication with appropriate leadership to ensure resolution.

Supervision & Job Requirements

• Works under the direct supervision of the Manager of Post Harvest.
• This position is responsible for the supervision and directing of the Trim and Cure department for the Lothian, MD cultivation facility. Supervising staff, including hiring and developing, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving employee issues.
• Ensure that individual and team performance meets PharmaCann’s standards of service and quality.

Competencies and Qualifications

Work Experience

• Preferred at least 1 year employment with PharmaCann to apply.
• Preferred manufacturing, assembly line, and/or cannabis industry experience for 2 years.
• Two years of work experience in a related industry or work environment.
• Preferred at least 1 year of prior leadership experience to apply.
• Experience working in a fast-paced production environment required.
• Experience supervising teams of 15+ staff is preferred.
• Demonstrates ability to consistently achieve productivity and performance requirements. Shows the capability to handle multiple tasks at once under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrates high attention to detail and the ability to resolve conflict and complex issues.
• Demonstrates respectful verbal and written communication capability.
• Demonstrates basic computer and math capability.
• Demonstrates basic English, reading and writing capability.
• Knowledge and background in cannabis manufacturing preferred.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Manufacturing and/or Agricultural management experience, training, and education preferred.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

• Able to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
• Able to move about a typical office, manufacturing and warehouse environment. Working with the cannabis plant, breaking it down by hand and scissors. Potentially working with machinery to trim, sort, and package cannabis product. This position is part of a fast paced environment.
• Able to kneel, bend, reach, rotate, and stoop on an intermittent to regular basis daily.
• Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Consistent on-time attendance for all scheduled shifts. Prepared for over 40+ hour work weeks within this position, regularly.
• Occasional travel by conventional means, including aircraft, motor vehicle, within the region and to other locations as required.
