Details Acute care hospital setting, 7th floor Oncology/Med-Surg unit with 29 beds Travelers work exclusively on the inpatient floor (not in the outpatient area) Patient population includes acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, and end-of-life care Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, occasionally 1:6 Nurse aides available, generally 3 per day Charge nurse is staffed outside of the patient care grid except in unusual circumstances Central telemetry monitoring available; strip reading is not required Charting via MEDITECH EMR 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM Every other weekend required Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff Floating is rare, but may occur to a medical acute unit 3-day floor-specific orientation provided Requirements Active RN license in Georgia or a compact state currently in hand Current BLS certification (AHA) required; NIHSS preferred ONS certification required if performing chemotherapy administration Minimum 2 years of oncology specialty experience required At least 1 prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered Driver's license required for consideration Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement Additional Information Outpatient area patients may be transferred to the inpatient floor to complete treatment if the outpatient area closes before their infusion is finished Scrub color: Caribbean Blue Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement Time off requests and scheduling accommodations are only honored if submitted and confirmed at the start of the assignment American Traveler Job ID #P-716046.
