Stantec is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Regional Supervisor – Power Delivery to provide leadership and technical oversight for our Substation engineering teams. This role will support the continued growth and integration of Stantec’s Power Delivery capabilities across the United States and will combine people leadership, technical leadership, project delivery, and collaboration across the broader Energy & Resources organization. This role can be based in any Stantec Energy & Resources office in the United States and requires regular in-office presence in support of our flexible work practice. This is a U.S. wide leadership and technical role responsible for leading and providing technical oversight of the U.S. Electrical Delivery Center team, with a strong focus on substation engineering and design. Our Delivery Center teams collaborate across Energy & Resources sectors, including Power Delivery, Renewables, Conventional Energy, Mining, Hydropower & Dams, Power Generation, and other markets. We bring together the resources of a global organization with specialized technical expertise to deliver challenging and impactful projects for our clients. Reporting to the Electrical Discipline Manager, Energy & Resources Delivery Center, the Regional Power Delivery Supervisor is responsible for developing, managing, and strengthening the technical capabilities of the U.S. team to meet current and future project delivery needs. Responsibilities include recruiting, developing, mentoring, training, and assigning qualified staff to projects, as well as supporting career development and performance management of direct reports. The Supervisor will provide leadership and technical oversight for medium, high, and extra-high voltage (EHV) substation and transmission line projects, working closely with business and Power Delivery leadership, project managers, technical leaders, clients, and multidisciplinary teams. Experience with EHV systems at 500 kV and above is considered an asset. This leader will play a key role in fostering a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, safety, accountability, continuous learning, and successful blended project delivery. The Supervisor will work across U.S. offices and geographies and collaborate closely with the Manage and Win pillars, project delivery teams, and Stantec’s Global Delivery Center (GDC), including Pune, to support workload planning, resource sharing, project execution, and business growth. A key measure of success will be the ability to develop a high-performing Power Delivery team, strengthen technical capabilities, support effective project delivery, and build scalable resources that align with Stantec’s long-term growth strategy. Your Key Responsibilities Ensure Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) have the highest priority in all activities. Ensure client expectations related to project scope are clearly understood, met, and exceeded. Prepare and review technical reports, presentations, standards, specifications, and engineering documentation. Lead and oversee substation design and engineering deliverables, including switchyard layouts, sections, grounding, cable routing, AC/DC distribution, equipment specifications, single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, design calculations, construction drawing packages, bills of material, procurement support, construction support, testing, and commissioning. Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases. Prepare construction drawing packages for bids and review incoming submittals for alignment with design and constructability. Responsible for team members’ development and guidance, including monitoring and evaluating performance, and providing coaching for high performance, initiating performance improvement measures, goal and objective setting, salary review, training, and career development. Drive succession planning by identifying and developing future leaders within the team and supporting leadership readiness. Fosters a strong people leadership culture by promoting accountability, continuous feedback and professional growth. Promote team engagement, retention, and knowledge sharing across offices and geographies, encouraging a collaborative and inclusive work environment. Support project pursuits, proposal development, project planning, cost estimation, technical approaches, and staffing plans by collaborating with pursuit and project teams to develop competitive, client-focused, and deliverable execution strategies. Work closely with the Discipline Manager and business leadership on strategic planning, growth and resources needs to strengthen Power Delivery practice. Supports the Discipline Manager and Technical Practice Community Leaders in development and implementation of targeted training programs, strategies, design guidelines, checklists, standards and processes, to strengthen the capabilities and consistency of the team. Perform regular follow-up with team leads, as required, to ensure project execution plans, including agreed-upon scope, quality plans, schedule, and budget, are in place and fully understood by their team members. Provide leadership for Quality Control and technical excellence, working with technical leaders and Subject Matter Experts, providing technical support and ensuring designs are in accordance with the applicable codes and project specifications & standards. Participates in technical reviews, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen technical quality and consistency across the region. Support risk identification and mitigation related to staffing, schedule, quality, technical complexity, and client commitments, and elevate concerns early when corrective action is required. Help ensure client needs and concerns are addressed on a regular basis by working closely with the project technical leads, project managers, and account managers, and by supporting actions to improve performance when needed. Lead and support for recruiting talent while maintaining an appropriate staff mix and experience aligned with current and future talent needs. Create a culture of collaboration and teamwork, including fostering growth of our Global Delivery Centers to ensure that right team members and capabilities are aligned with project needs. Responsible for the workload management, and forecasting for the complete US region, balancing resources across offices, sectors, and projects and coordinating staffing needs with Power Delivery leadership, including substation and transmission line programs. Maintain a strong focus on effective resource utilization, project delivery, and team performance. Your Capabilities and Credentials Demonstrates technical proficiency and strong project experience substation engineering and design. The successful candidate should understand the technical requirements, multidisciplinary interfaces, design processes, quality expectations, and delivery challenges associated with these project types. Experience in transmission line and/or distribution design and engineering would be considered an asset. Strong organizational skills and ability to work across multiple offices and geographies while managing competing priorities. Demonstrates passion for exceptional project delivery, coaching and consistently delivering commitments. Demonstrates a positive, collaborative leadership style and a sincere desire to work across teams and geographies to develop solutions and maximize the effectiveness of how work is executed. Familiar with a wide range of project delivery models and basic project management practices. Strong task management skills, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and competing priorities. Demonstrated success in building trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrates leadership, analytical thinking, adaptability, and strong communication skills. Self-motivated and capable of working independently while managing multiple tasks. Fluency in English is required, as the role regularly interfaces with team members, leaders, and clients across North America. Ability to travel periodically to Stantec offices, client sites, project sites, and industry events as required to support team leadership, project delivery, client engagement, and business development. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university. Minimum of 15+ years of experience in electrical engineering and design with significant experience supporting Power Delivery projects. Demonstrated experience with substation projects is required, including familiarity with multidisciplinary design, project execution, technical requirements, and delivery challenges associated with these project types. Experience in the design and engineering of Extra High Voltage (EHV) substation systems at 500 kV and above is preferred and would be considered an asset. Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated technical or people leadership experience leading engineering or project-focused teams. Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and coordinating resources across multiple offices is strongly preferred. Professional Engineering designation in at least one US jurisdiction is must, with the ability to obtain registration in additional jurisdictions as required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
