Web Accessibility Specialist / Web Developer
We are seeking a detail-oriented Web Accessibility Specialist / Web Developer to support the auditing, remediation, development, and maintenance of web content and digital assets. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Microsoft SharePoint, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web accessibility standards , including WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA, ADA Title II, WAI-ARIA, and Section 508 .
Responsibilities- Perform manual and automated accessibility audits of websites, portals, and web applications using tools such as Siteimprove and accessiBe .
- Identify and remediate accessibility issues involving HTML, CSS, JavaScript, page structure, interactive components, and web content .
- Ensure digital assets including PDFs, forms, videos, presentations, graphics, images, and GIS maps meet accessibility requirements.
- Perform accessibility testing for new and existing web content.
- Work with content creators, communications teams, IT teams, and third-party vendors to implement accessibility best practices.
- Manage, maintain, and update web pages and custom components in Microsoft SharePoint Online and SharePoint Server .
- Develop and modify SharePoint templates, web parts, page layouts, CSS, and JavaScript integrations .
- Implement semantic HTML, ARIA roles, landmarks, and accessible page structures .
- Support PDF remediation and accessible document creation using Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Office.
- Help develop internal accessibility processes and provide guidance to non-technical users.
- Manage multiple accessibility and compliance projects while meeting deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, Digital/Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of professional experience in web development, front-end development, web accessibility, or webmaster roles.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft SharePoint Online and/or SharePoint Server .
- Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA, ADA Title II, WAI-ARIA, and Section 508 .
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript .
- Understanding of responsive web design/framework concepts .
- Experience with web accessibility testing and remediation .
- Knowledge of PDF accessibility/remediation using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
