WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You’ll join our Washington, DC Staffing and Program Management team, partnering closely with colleagues across Program Management, Talent and Business Operations, Human Resources, and office leadership. The team supports the operational and strategic talent needs of the office and plays an important role in creating a high-quality experience for our consulting teams. You’ll report to the Director, Consulting Programs and work closely with the full Program Management team, the Office Head, and the Human Resources team.

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

As a Specialist, Consulting Programs, you’ll be at the center of a dynamic, collaborative office environment. You’ll support a range of programs spanning staffing and capacity planning, performance management, professional development, and talent operations. You’ll combine strong organization and analytical skills with sound judgment and a service-oriented mindset to help our teams operate effectively. You’ll also work with data, systems, and AI tools to improve internal processes and provide insights that support decision-making.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Staffing and capacity planning Drive a live, forward-looking view of staffing capacity, accounting for case kickoffs, roll points, consulting staff outages, and incoming and outgoing personnel. Maintain an up-to-date office staffing pipeline. Performance management, ratings, and promotions Help drive the biannual consulting staff ratings process from start to finish, including setting the office Performance Evaluation Committee calendar and supporting preparation of committee materials. Maintain people movement and prior ratings data to support consistent calibration across classes and cohorts. Collect and provide input to the Program Management team for review and final calibration. Manage overdue review escalation processes, including coordinating with Program Managers and office leadership as appropriate. Own execution of promotion processes for general consulting roles, including creating and distributing templates, tracking submissions, preparing committee materials, attending meetings, and supporting follow-up actions. Onboarding and professional development Administer the logistics and execution of onboarding for incoming consulting staff, helping deliver a high-touch, developmental experience. Own class training for the general consulting population at critical career junctures. Prepare and maintain advisor subscriptions and manage matches for new starts, transfers, leaves of absence, coverage advisors, returns, and departures. Own and operate mentorship programs, including mentor and mentee matching, tracking people movement and mentor capacity, managing check-in cadences, and coordinating with stakeholders. Talent operations Establish and maintain a structured cadence for team engagement and alignment, including case team pulse checks, case debriefs, weekly Program Management meetings, and team huddles. Serve as systems lead for BOSS, our resource management tool, and Trellis, our performance management system, maintaining data integrity and providing insights that support decision-making. Perform data entry and maintenance in BOSS and Trellis, including ensuring case reviews are released in a timely manner and adjusting employee points of contact based on career progression. Monitor CTSU and employee hours report results and trends, providing weekly updates and analysis to Program Management and Human Resources as relevant. Maintain team documents and systems, including SharePoint and staffing Excel files. Run ad hoc reports and advanced strategic analyses for Program Management, Human Resources, and office leadership. Use AI tools and resources to continuously improve and elevate internal data tracking and processes. Perform other administrative duties as needed.

ABOUT YOU

You have a bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience. You bring three to four years of analytics and/or administrative support experience, preferably within a professional services firm. You have strong written and verbal communication skills. You demonstrate sound judgment and can handle highly confidential information professionally. You can work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced, changing environment. You bring strong customer service and organizational skills and can prioritize and manage multiple tasks. You have logical problem-solving skills and are highly adaptable when priorities change. You are proficient in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; advanced Excel skills are preferred. You have flexibility with your working hours and are available to work occasional overtime as needed. This role follows a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence a minimum of four days per week.

US COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below). Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows: In Washington, DC , the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is $73,500 to $88,250 . Placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level. Annual discretionary performance bonus. This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation. 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date.
